Modern Student Designed Ohio Voting Sticker

As Ohioans cast their vote this election day, they are leaving the polls with the award-winning design work of a Modern student.

As a high school student at Teays Valley High School in Pickaway County, Emily Legg-Cook won Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose’s “I Voted” sticker contest. With over 2,000 submissions from students grades sixth through 12th, over 15,550 Ohioans voted online, and her sticker design became Ohio’s voting sticker in 2020.

Since 2020, Emily Legg-Cook has become a Modern student and member of ɫƵ’s award-winning National Student Advertising Competition Team. Last summer, she interned with IBM as a Graphic Designer working from their Columbus, Ohio, office. Just a few weeks into Emily’s fourth year at ɫƵ, Emily accepted a full-time position with IBM that starts with a co-op in January of 2023. Emily will graduate from the Design Leadership Program in May and continue as designer on the IBM iX Craft Design team.

“I smile every time I cast a vote and wear my voting sticker because I know how hard Emily has worked since high school to transform into a professional designer, “said Jessica Barry, President at ɫƵ. “As she launches her professional career with IBM, her leadership and creativity will positively impact her clients and colleagues for years to come.”
